Ethical lapses are not just the domain of greedy or morally challenged employees. Organizations, both public and private, may have their own non-objective agendas that make business clients or governmental bosses look good at the expense of high ethical standards – just read the newspapers. Therefore, the employee needs to be on guard not just for their own ethical shortcomings but those of their employer. The highest ethical purpose of an employed engineer is not just to make their employer look good. Under what circumstances is it justified to be a whistleblower to report unethical activities of your organization. Your course would be improved by cover this topic. Also, suggest adding some real-life examples of complex work place ethical challenges.
