Rik van Hemmen is the President of Martin & Ottaway, Inc., a marine engineering company that has been in continuous operation since 1875, and primarily deals with rapidly developing ship disasters and risk assessment. He has a degree in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He is widely published on many aspects of design. He first became interested in the application of Game Theory in engineering as the Chief Engineer on a 1987 America’s Cup campaign. He has presented and written about Game Theory matters in a wide variety of publications and venues.

Hannah van Hemmen has an undergraduate degree in economics and environmental science and a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering from Columbia University. She is presently employed by Orsted in Offshore Wind development.
