Overall, the course is well put together. However, it is very technical, and the provided software must be used for the end of course exam, so ensure you have access prior to starting the test. Before taking this course, I believe it would be beneficial to have some familiarity with the chord definition of curve.

Mr Dunn: As your records will confirm, today I completed the above referenced course. As an ole RR Engineer ( from Junior Engineer through Assistant Engineer on the L&N RR,in the early1960’s, and therefore having calculated many RR curves ( literally longhand- before computers or Hp45))I especially appreciated the Rail-Curve software. For the course test, I calculated the first 12 questions longhand, using the formulas you supplied in the text.( I did that exercise to test if I still had my calculation capabilities, and then to test the software. Then, I used the Rail Curve program to finish the test, and to check my answers of the first 12 questions.) The software was a great relief,and confirmed the calculations, both ways. Thanks for the great software, and the excellent refresher and reference course. Benjamin Carr P.E.

This course takes a 19th-century engineering topic into the 21st-century. He shows you all the math for those who live for that sort of thing, but the software does all the number crunching for you. Good course.I believe test problem data should be a 50 '-degree not 50 degree to get an answer.
Would also recommend that program should be attempted to be downloaded in Mac Numbers. Very bad.
Use PC with Excell only.
