This is an excellent course. It caused me to review
my basic chemistry - a course that I had in the 1950's.
The notes are both clear and concise. My only
problem was that I was unable to high-light sections
of the Notes. I overcame this by retyping the notes.
This is why it took me a while to complete the course.

Excellent course. Contains information that most design engineers don't appreciate. We usually get water samples, send them to the lab, then provide the lab results to membrane manufacturers and ask for system designs for "X" MGD. Will look for other courses by Mr. Voutchkov.

The course is very well-organized and a lot of good information is presented. It could use a bit of proofreading, as there are quite a few instances of simple typographical or grammatical errors (i.e. the word "form" where "from" is intended, missing "a", "an", or "the", number disagreement with singular and plural, etc.), but I couldn't take a star off for that. Excellent course.

Course provides a good overview of reverse osmosis, with particular application to seawater and brackish water treatment. Combines theory with practical application information, including calculation of osmotic pressure vs. salinity, provides TDS data on actual water sources, and presents physical configuration of membranes. Good as an intro or as a review for those who are already familiar with the topic and need a refresher course.

The course contained interesting information. It does not cover the release of brine following the RO process (environmental regulations for salt levels entering waters). There were multiple spelling errors in the text, but overall the information was good.

I feel this is a good overview on membrane desalination. I particularly liked the emphasis on membrane flux and clogging, which is applicable to more membbrane applications than just desalination.

The references to sodium bisulfite on pages 12 and 13 I believe are meant to refer to hydrogen sulfide. My understanding is that sodium bisulfite is used as a pre-treatment chemical to reduce oxidants, i.e. free chlorine or dissolved oxygen.

The answer given for no. 26 says that the Ro rejection decreases with increase in temperature, which I can understand. But Page 33 chart from the text shows the salt rejection increasing with increase in temperature. Is this a contradiction?
