The quote about regulatory compliance vs. individual responsibility is telling. A culture of overwhelming risk aversion, red-tape, or placation, inhibits actions other than mere compliance and "yes, ok". Pulling the emergency switch, yelling all-stop, and blowing whistles often have immediate, certain, scary consequences. Whereas with ignoring, hoping, self-uncertainty (me against the Authorized Plan), and doing nothing, maybe nothing happens after all.

The course was actually interesting, informative and reasonably well laid out. That all became much less important after taking the test. I felt like I was back in fifth grade with a lazy history teacher that just asked for the regurgitation of dates and locations. This is an ethics course and the test could have done a much better job of focusing on the serious implications rather than getting exact quotes from the book, page, and paragraph parts of the presentation. Just my perspective.

The Course went into a lot of detail about the technology of seep water oil wells which was interesting but almost detracted from the course. Suggest to provide an appendix. More time should have been spent on the case study of the ethics involved and perhaps why people got into the situations they did. It mostly seems to present findings without enough context. Finally the author seems to inject a lot of opinion of blame into the course. Suggest it would be more helpful to instruct how to deal with being put into positions of common conflicts that tend to arise. Simply saying you have to throw yourself under the bus isn't good enough!
