I've worked my whole career in HVAC and building systems design, spending many years designing systems for wood framed structures, without having had an introduction to the material presented in this course. I'm very pleased with the course, as it provided a great deal of knowledge of the truss manufacturing and design industry, in the space of such a condensed format. The material would have been even more helpful to me had I known of it many years ago.

Very informative course. Simplifies structural concepts for metal plate wood structures, points out important issues. If you know structural analysis, all makes sense but is presented in way that can be applied easily. Wood is becoming again, a much more used material for structures, including 20 story sky scrapers.

Some difficulty in following the extensive narrative in this area of civil engineering, which is of interest but way outside my traffic engineering specialty! More, and clearer diagrams would have been helpful.
Seems to be a course on the configuration and manufacture of timber trusses? I thought "Design of" would be more linked to calculations of bearings and member stresses, deflections, etc.
A good insight though, on issues not normally taught in a timber construction college course.

A good course. Only criticism I can see, is that on page 3 the calculation shown for tributary area for Girder 1 seems to be incorrect. The Common2 trusses span 30 feet@2' spacing, half of load goes to truss GirderG1 and half to end wall.
