The course covers most of theconcepts needed for a baisc understanding, but it's pretty simplistic. Also, the concept of "accuracy" is not properly covered, as the description is about "precision", i.e. how close the answer is to the exact answer. Accuracy is about correctness.

Review of SunCam PDH Course #196 Structural Concepts for Non-Structural Engineers
A dated course on the most basic level.
Should be a much improved 4 PDH course not this cursory 3 PDH one.
Could have been a bit more detailed as after all it is for engineers so do not limit to basic beam concepts rather include some concepts involving for example hoops and plates plus discussions of the various loads to be considered in structural design [live, dead, wind, seismic for example] as well in order to make this the full blown 4 PDH course it needs to be.
Some explanations were hard to follow.
Dated in that only discussion of 'new technology' was FEM & carbon fiber as there is much more that could have been mentioned on both the fronts of materials and new analytical modeling methods.
Should have some problems requiring calculation to get answer to demonstrate that student understood concepts.
Not all formulas explained not all terms defined.
Good in that reference to Roark included.
The course is intended for non-structural engineers.

Very High Level
This course illustrates the very high level concepts of beams. Touches on well known formulas for calculation of stresses and deflections and puts in laymen terms. This was a review of simple and basic concepts utilized in university. No "new" knowledge gained from this course.
SunCam Comment: If you are a practicing structural engineering this is not the course for you. Here is a quote from the course description, "It is a course for people that do not have a heavy background in structural design, such as Electrical Engineers, Mechanical (HVAC) Engineers, and Architects.
