An interesting intro to a multifaceted topic. Several considerations not discussed - noise, negative environmental effects, blade shadow flash annoyance, operational mechanical safety, icing, foundation design, blade count - albeit these design considerations are outside the sharp quickie economic focus of this course. All-in-all wind power while superficially a seemingly "good and green renewable energy idea" is not so.
It's an introduction!

Fun quick course. Typos in the text require correction.
Good course to provide to high schoolers and college students interested in this type of stuff. Provide a little more data on VAWT and traditional dutch windmills are not drag mills. At least a century ago they were fitted with aero leading edges that made them (imperfect) lift mill. Sail design and wind mill design are actually parallel developments.

Introduction to Small-Scale Wind Project Design
My interest in this course was not only for CE credits, but also for the purpose of evaluating the potential of installing a small wind turbine on a portion of my own property. Not only did this course give me the how's and why's I needed to make this evaluation, but also gave me reference information to help find additional and more detailed info. The mathematical equations used were simple to follow but complex enough to give useful results.

Very good summary of the various turbines and the equations behind them, along with a couple of case studies to apply this information to a hypothetical project. The only thing I would have liked to see is a discussion of the capital cost - the cases show estimated power production and expected revenue, so an example of how that compares to the initial project cost would be interesting
